OCTOBER  2008

The month of October is dedicated to

THE MOST HOLY ROSARY

The Rosary was given to the whole world by Our Lady through St. Dominic in 1208.  In 1572 Pope St. Pius V instituted October 7 as the annual commemoration of Our Lady of Victory.  On that day, Christian Europe was saved from Muslim forces at Lepanto against tremendous odds when the people of Rome united with the Holy Father to pray the Rosary.  Later Clement XI extended the feast of the Most Holy Rosary to the whole Church, and in 1969 October 7 became the memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary.  The Rosary has become the most powerful weapon in Church battles against heresy and sin.

The virtue for October is confidence.  Confidence is trust in God and is united to Faith and Hope: believing God will grant our desires to eternal salvation for our souls and those we love.

The Saint Monica Sodality of Michigan prays the Rosary before Mass.  Our confidence is in the mission of Christ to bring our loved ones home through Holy Mother Church.

The NEXT monthly Mass of the Sodality is First Saturday at Assumption Grotto Church, October 4, at 4 P.M.

The next monthly Mass at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church is the fourth Sunday, October 26, at 1:30 P.M.

An Important Request to

PLEASE PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for our Country !!!

During this critical time, the battle for our country preceding the November 4 election of president and vice president, the Saint Monica Sodality encourages your prayers for our elected officials, and those in the media of television, print, internet and radio, that only truth will be transmitted.

The Sodality especially encourages prayer for those professing to be Catholic, but clearly by their pronouncements, do not know the Catholic Faith.  Our Catholic Church has from its very beginning, at the foot of the Cross of Jesus, pronounced abortion and infanticide an intrinsic evil.  To commit an evil act is a sin.  To say the act is not evil causes scandal to believers and is a sin.  To say evil is good, and good is evil is a sin.

The Saint Monica Sodality prays for all those who are no longer practicing the Faith, all those who have left the Faith, and for conversions to the Catholic Faith.
